In this entry I’m going to show you the toiletries I use daily, where they’re from and if they’re nice to use. Also I’m going to show you how I drink clean water every day here in Lima.

• Bamboo toothbrush
• Tooth tablets
• Solid shampoo and tin container
• Bar of soap
• Natural Pumice stone

I’ve been using bamboo tooth brushes for a year now and I’m very happy with them. They feel nice in the hand, they’re light and more importantly they clean my teeth well. I’ve used two brands so far, Bam & Boo Toothbrush and OralTeck.

The service of Bam & Boo is very clever. They do free shipping all around the world and you can create a subscription so they can send you a new toothbrush every 2, 3 or 4 months depending on what you want. This can also be canceled at any point just by sending them an email, which I did when I came to Lima.

OralTeck has carbon activated bristles which help whiten teeth. I love the flower of life design on the handle.

The Dirty tooth tablets by LUSH I don’t like so much. They foam up well but the taste isn’t very nice and after a week of using them I feel my gums are a bit aggravated because of the baking soda included in the ingredients. Also, they come in a plastic bottle which are easily recyclable (unlike normal toothpaste tubes – more info and entrepeneurial idea), but I will be looking into other alternatives with more sustainable packaging.

I love my Montalbano shampoo by LUSH! It creates lather and it smells citrusy and fresh. The shop assistant also told me that it helps to regulate the PH levels of scalp and give shine. I also bought the tin to keep to shampoo in so I can reuse it next time I get a new shampoo bar – no waste!

When I can, I buy natural solid soap with no packaging (you can find this in many shops and local markets).

I use a pumice stone to exfoliate my legs because I have keratosis pilaris (little bumps where the hair follicles get blocked). It really works and brings quick results and smooth skin! (I bought one in the supermarket)

BONUS: A massive advantage to using solid toiletries is that you don’t have to worry about everything being 100ml max. when traveling with hand luggage only 🙌

Agua es vida!

In Lima you can’t drink the water straight from the tap, which is usually the case in places that are on the coast. The first week I was here I bought two 7 liter bottles of water (see it on the right of the photo). It bugs me to have to buy plastic bottles again and again for two reasons:

1. Plastic waste. I calculated that for the five months I’m here, I would be purchasing 40 bottles of water.
2. They’re heavy. It’s uncomfortable and inconvenient to have to carry 7L bottles all the way home.

My solution: Soma water pitcher.

On the right: pop aluminium water bottle I use this every single day and take it with me almost every time I leave the house. I prefer it to glass bottles because aluminium is lighter and less fragile.

These are all feasible items to incorporate in your every day life. So waste no more time (or plastic)!

¿Qué cosas usas a diario?

En esta entrada, os voy a mostrar los artículos de aseo que uso a diario, de dónde son y si son agradables de usar. También os mostraré cómo bebo agua limpia todos los días aquí en Lima.

• Cepillo de dientes de bambú
• Pastillas para dientes
• Champú sólido y envase de lata
• Barra de jabón
• Piedra de piedra pómez natural

He estado usando cepillos de bambú por un año y estoy muy feliz con ellos. Se sienten bien en la mano, son ligeros y, lo que es más importante, limpian bien mis dientes. He usado dos marcas hasta ahora, Bam & Boo Toothbrush y OralTeck .

El servicio de Bam & Boo es muy inteligente. Hacen envíos gratuitos a todo el mundo y puedes crear una suscripción para que puedan enviarle un nuevo cepillo de dientes cada 2, 3 o 4 meses, según lo que desees. Esto también se puede cancelar en cualquier momento simplemente enviándoles un correo electrónico, que fue lo que hice cuando vine a Lima.

OralTeck tiene cerdas activadas con carbón que ayudan a blanquear los dientes. Me encanta el diseño de la flor de la vida en el mango.

El Tabletas Dirty de LUSH no me gustan mucho. Crean mucha espuma pero el sabor no es muy agradable y después de una semana de usarlos siento que mis encías están un poco agravadas debido al bicarbonato de sodio incluido en los ingredientes. Además, vienen en una botella de plástico que es fácilmente reciclable (a diferencia de los tubos de pasta de dientes normales – más información e idea innovadora), pero buscaré otras alternativas en packaging más sostenible.

Me encanta el Shampoo Montalbano de LUSH! Crea espuma y huele cítrico y fresco. El dependiente de la tienda también me dijo que ayuda a regular los niveles de PH del cuero cabelludo y a dar brillo. También compré el envase para guardar el champú para poder reutilizarlo. Comprar una nueva barra de champú, ¡sin desperdicio!

Cuando puedo, compro jabón natural sólido sin embalaje (lo puedes encontrar en muchas tiendas y mercados locales).

Utilizo una piedra pómez para exfoliar las piernas porque tengo queratosis pilaris (pequeñas protuberancias donde los folículos pilosos se bloquean). ¡Realmente funciona y trae resultados rápidos y una piel suave! (Lo compré en el supermercado)

BONUS : Una gran ventaja de usar artículos de tocador sólidos es que no te tienes que preocupar por que todo sea de 100 ml máx. cuando viajas solamente con equipaje de mano 🙌

En Lima no se puede beber el agua directamente del grifo, lo que suele ser el caso en lugares que están en la costa. La primera semana que estuve aquí compré dos botellas de agua de 7 litros (ver a la derecha de la foto). Me molesta tener que comprar botellas de plástico una y otra vez por dos razones:

1. Desechos plásticos . Calculé que para los cinco meses que estoy aquí, compraría 40 botellas de agua.
2. Son pesados ​​. Es incómodo e inconveniente tener que llevar botellas de 7 litros hasta su casa.

Mi solución: jarra de agua Soma.

A la derecha: pop botella de agua de aluminio. Lo uso todos los días y me lo llevo casi cada vez que salgo de casa. Lo prefiero a las botellas de vidrio porque el aluminio es más ligero y menos frágil.

Todas estas cosas son factibles para incorporar en tu vida diaria. ¡Así que no pierdas más tiempo (o plástico)!
