Yesterday I went to Bioferia, the first and largest organic market in Peru. It had everything from fruit and veg, super foods, fresh homemade foods to organic cotton clothes and children’s toys. It was fantastic to see so many people browsing and to be able to try so many quality products. Almost every stand was vegan so you can imagine how excited I was 😄

Ayer fui a Bioferia, el primer y más grande mercado orgánico en Perú. Tenía todo, desde frutas y verduras, superalimentos, alimentos frescos caseros hasta ropa de algodón orgánico y juguetes para niños. Fue fantástico ver tanta gente navegando y poder probar tantos productos de calidad. Casi todos los puestos eran veganos, así que puedes imaginarte lo emocionada que estaba 😄






This stand belonged to La Verde. I asked what they recommended as it was my first time trying their produce. So they told me to try the «pastel de choclo» and the banana and blueberry cake. Both were delicious!!!

Este puesto pertenecía a La Verde. Pedí que me recomendaran, ya que era la primera vez que probaba sus productos. Así que me dijeron que probara el pastel de choclo y el pastel de plátano y arándanos. ¡Ambos estaban deliciosos!

Here is everything I bought. I could have got more things but I ran out of «plata» 😆

– bananas, mango, broccoli, salad, carrots
– lucuma icecream
– sachi snack (Sacha inchik is a seed native to the Peruvian Amazon, which has been used by the natives of Peru for at least 2000 years)
– bread made from wheat germ, chestnuts, raisins, walnuts
– t-shirt made with organic cotton

If you’re wondering where the banana and blueberry cake is, it’s in the paper bag at the back, waiting just for me 😏 (sorry I forgot to take a photo of it)

Aquí está todo lo que compré. Podría haber comprado más cosas pero me quedé sin «plata» 😆

• snack sachi (Sacha inchik es una semilla originaria de la Amazonía peruana, que ha sido utilizada por los nativos del Perú durante al menos 2000 años)
• Pan de germen de trigo, castañas, pasas, nueces.
• Camiseta confeccionada con algodón orgánico.

Si te estás preguntando dónde está el pastel de plátano y arándanos, está en la bolsa de papel en la parte de atrás, esperándome a mí solo 😏 (perdón, me olvidé sacarle una foto)

I had the wonderful surprise of finding out that there would be a cooking workshop to make vegan ceviche in the house where I’m staying today at lunchtime 😍

Tuve la maravillosa sorpresa de descubrir que habría un taller de cocina para hacer ceviche vegano en la casa donde me hospedo hoy a la hora del almuerzo 😍

Vegan ceviche with choclo, sweet potato and yellow potato.

Ceviche vegano con choclo, camote o batata y papa amarilla.

Marco, expert in veganizing typical Peruvian dishes, or as he calls himself, «the alchemist».

Marco, experto en veganizar platos típicos peruanos , o como se llama a sí mismo, «el alquimista» .

Ingredients for «leche de tigre», known to be the perfect hangover remedy and a strong aphrodisiac, supposedly making men more aggressive in bed. Women who prefer strong love-making, you know what to prepare for your man!

Ingredientes para «leche de tigre», conocido por ser el remedio perfecto para la resaca y un afrodisíaco fuerte, supuestamente haciendo a los hombres más agresivos en la cama. ¡Mujeres que prefieren hacer el amor fuerte, ya sabéis qué preparar para su hombre!

Marco added nori seaweed to give it the taste of the sea. In other words, to make it taste fishy, as ceviche is usually prepared with white fish. He explained to us that ceviche tastes amazing because of the sauce, not the fish which actually has little flavor.

Marco agregó nori algas para darle el sabor del mar. En otras palabras, para que tenga un sabor a pescado, ya que el ceviche generalmente se prepara con pescado blanco. Nos explicó que el ceviche tiene un sabor increíble debido a la salsa, no al pescado que en realidad tiene poco sabor.

I watched five films straight during the 12 hour flight:

– The kindergarten teacher (Sundance award winner)

– Distances (film in catalán/castellano w/ English sub)

– Carmen y Lola (Spanish film)

– A star is born

– Reloca (Argentinian) – This one was probably my favorite.

As you can tell, I was quite entertained during the flight. Also, one of the flight attendants looked like a model or a potential actor. He was a handsome man with classy Grey-white hair and beard. When I went to get some water I told him what I thought. No, not to flirt, he was in his forties for goodness sake.

I told him because I think that compliments motivate people and make them feel good about themselves. Those who don’t like compliments simply don’t know what to do or say because they are so used to degrading themselves that anything positive about them is just hard to take in. So all the more reason to compliment ourselves and each other ey!

Slightly worrying news: My big suitcase containing all my clothes, toiletries and camera got lost in the airport and one day later I am still waiting for news about it 😅 please send out a thought to help it find its way back to me!

Vi cinco películas seguidas durante el vuelo de 12 horas:

– La maestra de jardín de infantes (ganadora del premio Sundance)

– Distancias (película en catalán / castellano con inglés)

– Carmen y Lola (película española)

– Nace una estrella

– Reloca (Argentina) – Esta fue mi favorita.

Como podéis ver, me entretuve bastante durante el vuelo. Además, uno de los auxiliares de vuelo parecía un modelo o un actor potencial. Era un hombre atractivo con el elegante cabello blanco-grisáceo con barba. Cuando fui a buscar un poco de agua le dije lo que pensaba. No, no para coquetear, tenía cuarenta y tantos por amor de Dios.

Se lo dije porque creo que los cumplidos motivan a las personas y las hacen sentir bien consigo mismas. Aquellos a quienes no les gustan los cumplidos simplemente no saben qué hacer o decir porque están tan acostumbrados a degradarse que cualquier cosa positiva sobre ellos es difícil de asimilar. ¡Así que, con más razón, felicitémonos a nosotros mismos y a los demás!

Noticias levemente preocupantes: mi maleta grande que contiene toda mi ropa, artículos de tocador y cámara se perdió en el aeropuerto y, un día después, todavía estoy esperando noticias al respecto. ¡Envíame un pensamiento para ayudarla a encontrar el camino de regreso a mí!

Here goes… My trip to Lima has begun! Only three hours ago my flight lifted off from the grounds of Madrid.

Why am I going to Lima you may be asking? I’m going to study in the University of Lima for one semester. I’ll be there a total of five months.

I’m incredibly excited about all the experiences awaiting. For my eyes to be opened wide by different cultures, my heart touched by old traditions and my taste buds tantalized by their wonderful foods😍

It’s crazy to know that I’ll be sleeping in Lima tonight. I never get over how you can wake up in one country and go to sleep in a another country on the other side of the world. Am I the only one?

Aquí va … ¡Mi viaje a Lima ha comenzado! Hace solo tres horas mi vuelo despegó de los terrenos de Madrid.

¿Por qué me voy a Lima? Voy a estudiar en la Universidad de Lima por un semestre. Estaré allí un total de cinco meses.

Estoy increíblemente emocionada por todas las experiencias que me esperan. Para que mis ojos se abran con diferentes culturas, mi corazón se conmueva con las viejas tradiciones y mis papilas gustativas sean tentadas por sus maravillosos alimentos.

Es una locura saber que esta noche dormiré en Lima. Siempre me ha fascinado el hecho de que puedes despertarte en un país y dormir en otro país del otro lado del mundo. ¿Soy la única?
